Special Events
- Sunday School starts with Preliminaries at 9:45 a.m. in the Church Sanctuary which includes prayer, a brief devotional/scripture reading, announcements and recognition of birthdays and anniversaries.
- A number of classes for all ages are held from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m.
Worship Service
- Sunday morning (blended) Worship Service in the Church Sanctuary begins at 11:00 a.m. with prayer, congregational hymn, prayer, adult choir singing, and a message by our lead pastor or assistant pastor.
Bible Study
- Discipleship training / Bible study is held for children, youth and adults on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
- Our Small Groups take place at various times throughout the week. These groups provide opportunities for discipleship training and also to develop deep and meaningful personal relationships. See the calendar for time and locations.
Children's Ministry & Nursery
- A special age-appropriate Bible lesson for children, pre-school though fifth grade, is held during the Morning Worship Service in the Education Department
- SonSeekers, the children's ministry for children, pre-school through fifth grade, meets for a Bible lesson, activities, crafts and snacks, on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Education Department
- Children, age 2 and younger, are served during Sunday School and/or Sunday Morning Worship Service in the Nursery, located in the Education Department
Adult Choir
- The adult choir generally practices on Sunday afternoons at 6:00 p.m. for special music during the Morning Worship Service as well as special presentations during Easter, Christmas, etc.
Tuesday TruthSeekers Bible Club
- A team of adult volunteers sponsor an after-school Bible Club at Guideway Elementary School on Tuesday afternoons. The one-hour session includes singing, prayer, a Bible lesson and related activities, and a snack.
Youth Ministry
- Junior high and high school students participate in Youth Ministry meeting on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center for Bible lesson and related activities. They also attend retreats, Christian concerts, outings, etc.
Women's Ministries
- Wesleyan Women has a long history at Old Zion and continues to focus on support of missions and other ministries of the Wesleyan Church. Wesleyan Women meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Education Department.
- Woman of Grace focuses on community-based service projects and meets throughout the year for prayer, Bible study, food and fellowship
Men’s Ministry
- Men of Influence meets throughout the year for prayer, devotion, food and fellowship. They also work on various community-based service projects.
Compassion Ministries
- Bread of Life Food Pantry helps individuals or families in need of basic, non-perishable food assistance.
- Every Woman's Purse collects new or gently used pocketbooks and fills them with personal items like facial tissue, hand sanitizer, lipstick, and a Bible and distributes them to shelters for abused and battered women in North Carolina & South Carolina
CD Ministry
- A CD recording of the Sunday Morning Worship Service is available upon request.
Radio Ministry
- A broadcast of the previous Sunday's sermon may be heard on WTAB Radio 1370 AM (Tabor City) on Sunday's at 8:00 a.m.
Special Events
- A number of special events are held throughout the year to connect the church with the community. Examples include a community Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, Spring and Fall Revival Services, Fall Festival/Trunk-or-Treat, and others. See the Calendar page for details.
